About the Illustrator ... Lori TaylorIllustrator for "Magical Adventures in Michigan"
Lori, a self-taught Michigan artist, grew up among the pines & ponds of Clarkston. This sparked her love of the natural world & mythology. She preserves the spirit of wild places in watercolor or mixed media book art form. Her attention to detail can be seen in the large commissioned projects she has created for Oakland County Parks’ Lewis Wint Nature Center. Her colorful exhibit panels for Huron-Clinton Metroparks’ Wolcott Farms educate, as well as entertain, the public about farm life and animals, products & production. Extensive research & storytelling through art can also be seen in her historical acrylic painting/mural with its accompanying published print that portrays the 1820 Lewis Cass Expedition at Huron-Clinton’s Metroparks Metro Beach. Lori teaches art classes through the Genesee District Library systems. She has done everything from elementary school Michigan life murals, to set production designs and private commissions. Her watercolors & book art have been displayed in Michigan art shows throughout the state. She is an award winner of the All Media Show, and featured artist of Flint’s Left Bank Gallery, of which she is a board member.. Lori lives with her husband and two children in Goodrich, Michigan.
