Historical Adventure Books For Kids Teachers & Program Directors; Save Time! Capture Your Students' Interest! Educate while they have fun!!! For K-3: "After Detroit" 10-minute puppet presentation. The delightful show teaches children how characters - good and bad - are created. Both are needed in a story. Students will meet Jody [the lovable toy mouse from the Michigan Adventures series], and Gilbert, the toy frog, who always seems to be in trouble. Why? Did his writer really make him do all those bad things while he and Jody visited Detroit? Jody and Gilbert get into a tiff. The author must step in to help make peace. After the show, the children in the audience make up their own characters. For Grades 4-6: "Being a Writer." In this fifty-minute session (10 minutes Q & A), author, educator, and storyteller, Leigh Arrathoon, Princeton PhD., invites young people to explore being a writer, and learn about the process, discipline, and time that it takes. * * * * * Teachers, parents, program directors, and students love the "After Detroit" puppet show, and the "Being a Writer" sessions. There's serious information in these presentations - yet, they sparkle with fun. The student comes away having learned about Michigan's history and about life situations - all within an entertaining story - a happy blend of history, fact, and fiction!
